What is street painting?
A tradition since the 16th century.Street painting using chalk as the medium is enjoying a revival in Europe and
the U.S. After being discovered in the village of Grazie
de Curatone, Italy, the festival I Madonnari was created
in 1987 in Santa Barbara. Street painting is now expanding to various cities throughout the United States and Europe.
LA JOLLA FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
The 22nd annual festival of the arts among the top rated art shows in California. The Festival hosts over 190 award-winning local and national artists displaying watercolors, oils, sculpture, serigraphs, fine jewelry, photography and more. Event attendees can enjoy a variety of cuisines in the festival food area, listen to live entertainment, see a luxury car display, enjoy author signings, and have chocolate tastings.
Held on the University of California, San Diego’s East Campus in La Jolla, Ca; on the corner of Genesee Avenue and Regents Road, three blocks north of Westfield ShoppingtownUniversity Towne Center.
Proceeds from the Festival support recreational and educational programs for San Diegans with disabilities. Also funds from this Festival are providing services to injured veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
